This week, the Uribia La Guajir county foundation celebrated 86 years. For the local community, this is one of the most important days of the year, being celebrated intensively and covering the entire population. Present at the festivities, by local invitation, CJR Renewables, has achieved distinction as one multinational organization that is contributing to the community development, and customs and identity promotion, either by helping the community, the maintenance and promotion of jobs or the respect shown by increasing the moments of mutual knowledge.
For Mercedes Arpushaina, Social responsible in Windpeshi project, participating "in this type of initiatives fosters mutual familiarity, between company and community, and, at the same time, promotes the customs safeguarding and local idiosyncrasy persistence. To demonstrate our commitment to these practices, we prepared this day in advance, and we asked a local institution to develop a corporate Wayuu shawl (local costume with the company's brand). These clothes materialized our will to be part of the tradition, to show population that, today, we too are making a new history that transcends borders. By this, we wanted to demonstrate our respect for the local culture and our aspiration in integrate our activity in this community".
Mercedes also pointed out that "the operation of a company naturally generates enormous impacts on society, especially in the communities located around it, and therefore the company has responsibilities towards them. We believe in positive impacts, either by promoting employment and, therefore, impact on the local economy, or by meeting local needs for these community's sustainable development.
CJR Renewables is currently building the d Wind Farm (200 MW) in the Uribia La Guajira region.
